My baby is ONE!

I still can't believe it.

My baby turned one the other day. We had a birthday party for her on Sunday and she was such a trooper even though she was still getting over a nasty cold.

Things didn't look well the night before her birthday. She woke up in the middle of the night coughing her cute little brains out. Of course I ran to the rescue and held her in my arms. What followed I did not expect. See, she almost never spat up as a baby. So I wasn't ready for this. She vomited all over herself, my chest and the bed.

I tried not to freak out here. Actually, I felt bad for this amazing girl who didn't even seem upset at all by the fact that she was covered in her own vomit. And she had no idea that it was her birthday. Needless to say, we didn't get a lot of sleep that night.

But the party was a success. My sister in law baked a fabulous cake with only the best organic ingredients.

And Jessie even put on a party hat to celebrate.

It's amazing how much joy a child can bring to a family.

And she absolutely loved the attention. And the gifts. And the cake, which she had to try, of course.

Back from Vacation and Sweet Potato Update

So we're back from our little vacation to paradise and the monkey was so easy to travel with. I guess she was born a traveller just like her mama.

She was quite the little celebrity on the resort, waving at everyone and befriending all the cute boys. She even had a total stranger buy her a gift. This girl is not even one yet. We're in big trouble methinks...

What kind of cruel joke is it that I look out my window now and see this?



But it could be a lot worse. At least I live in a great neighbourhood full of amenities. Which reminds me...

Some exciting Junction news: the Sweet Potato is FINALLY getting a new freezer. Yes, you heard it here first. Our favourite local market is once again going to have all those wonderful frozen goods in stock, like the deliciously fake chicken nuggets I can't find anywhere else in the city.

So enjoy winter while it lasts. Before you know it, we'll be cranking the A/C and complaining about the heat.

Junction Mama is going through some major life changes.

The site is going to get a makeover.

But before the blog can get a makeover, Junction Mama needs a vacation.

Yes, I'm finally going to get away from the snow, the frostbite, the shovelling, the workout I get everytime I have to get the monkey dressed to go outside, argh!
